The Code of Traditional Archery is a book reflecting on the journey of traditional bowhunting, the ethics and the process that guides us along our path. Following along in a story, teach, lessons learned format that is both earnest and organic in approaching the true process of a hunting legacy. Bringing back traditional bowhunting to its intended roots, without the need for technology. Walk with the writer, in an in-depth approach to the developmental process that draws the reader into a world where the hunter becomes connected with prey, developing a deeper sense of appreciation for nature and environment and the three pillars of the Code of Traditional Archery;

  1. Weapons proficiency and shot accuracy, the kinetic and kinesthetic process of shooting a bow effectively for hunting purposes.
  2. Ethics to guide us on our journey to ensure effective shot presentations and to be part of the circle of life connecting us with our past.
  3. Conservation and stewardship of the environment and connection to the predator/prey cycle that we as hunters understand in a way that is intimately connected to our wild spaces.

Grant Richardson is from Ontario, Canada; He was raised into traditional bowhunting and bushcraft from a young age. He began shooting with a small green glass longbow at the age of three and was shooting a hunting recurve by the age of 14. Born into a family that has deep roots in both the bowhunting and fly-fishing community, he has bowhunted and fly fished across Canada and the U.S.Grant has developed a unique method of shooting, specifically for bowhunting and instinctive archery based on pressure testing for hunting situations and runs a mentoring program for those new to traditional bowhunting. Creating a fusion between functional martials arts training and archery, the program is specifically geared towards people making the switch from a compound bow to traditional. He enjoys hunting and fly fishing with his children and working the families Weimaraner's Ellie and Maggie on upland game. You can find us at www.thecodeoftraditionalarchery.com

"Thoughtful and intriguing even after shooting traditional bows for seventy years."
